Seven Lakes Country Club Golf
Seven Lakes Country Club golf course, designed by Peter Tufts III in 1976, presents a
true Sandhills experience and has been awarded a FOUR STAR rating by Golf
Digest. Perennially classified as one of the finest courses in the
Pinehurst area, Seven Lakes Country Club’s notoriety is understandable, once you
realize that Peter was the great grandson of James Walker Tufts, the founder of
Pinehurst Resort, and an early prodigy of Donald Ross.
Created in the tradition of Scottish
architects of the early 1900's, the contoured fairways wind through longleaf
pines and are bordered in a landscape of azaleas, magnolias and dogwoods.
This scenic course, being in the Seven Lakes Community, has many
water hazards that come into play, and mature pine trees lining its fairways.
The undulating greens are fast and well-bunkered.
The signature hole is an uphill par 4 with a slight dogleg left
fairway and a well-protected green and fairway. Tufts cleverly
adapted the creeks and lakes with the pine-lined fairways, and water comes into
play on nine of the eighteen holes.
The Seven Lakes South community, is such a perfect setting for this golf course.
There’s nothing on the South side of Seven Lakes except this incredible golf
course, clubhouse and beautiful big lots and residential sites. The South side
has been kept so natural, it oozes classic Sandhills appeal. Excluding the
gorgeous homes that you'll find here, this rolling scene of pines, lakes, golf
course and natural serenity blanket the entire neighborhood. It's very peaceful.
Seven Lakes Country Club Golf traditional design elements are just one
of the reasons why this highly acclaimed course is ranked as one of the
TOP 100 courses in the state. It has been recognized as the Sandhills Golf
Association Course of the Year for 2010. A favorite among traveling
golfers, Golf Digest says "plan your vacation around it".
The Seven Lakes Country Club golf course
features 6,927 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course
rating is 74.1 and it has a slope rating of 142 on Bermuda grass. Located just a short drive from the Village of Pinehurst, the club accepts
limited non-member play and is widely acclaimed as a “hidden gem” of the
Sandhills.
