BRAC Regional Task Force
BRAC Regional Task Force, now known as the Fort Bragg
Regional Alliance, represents eleven counties and 73
municipalities that are planning and preparing for the significant impact on our
communities due to the BRAC 2005 actions and other growth at Fort Bragg and Pope
AFB. Over the next several years, Fort Bragg will see additional gains of
40,000 military and civilian personnel and their families as the Army moves U.S.
Army Reserve Command and U. S. Army Forces Command from Fort McPherson, Ga. to
Fort Bragg. These actions require planning and preparation to maximize the
benefits to our state and region.
The BRAC Regional Task Force is unifying and
coordinating these efforts for the eleven counties and provides a regional
approach to the planning and implementation effort. The organization works
with federal and state agencies, local government and departments, military
departments and the installation to support transition actions, minimize the
negative impact on the community, and maximize the economic growth potential.
The BRAC RTF is working with existing organizations and agencies as much as
possible to utilize current capabilities and relationships.
The Board of Directors
is planning and handling logistics of this incredible task to efficiently
complete this growth for Fort Bragg and the surrounding counties and
municipalities.

Our communities are now planning for the projected growth by supporting
new installation requirements and trying to determine how the changes and growth
will affect our local communities and region. With the influx of
newcomers, our schools, transportation and workforce needs will grow as will
infrastructure, medical, and others.
Moore County’s Regional Growth Plan from
the BRAC Regional Task Force outlines the logistics and long range planning.
Construction of the ne w FORSCOM headquarters building is underway. By March,
2011, the U.S. Army Reserve Command and U. S. Army Forces Command will begin
moving to Fort Bragg. The BRAC RTF will work diligently to ensure our
community is prepared for the largest economic impact this region has ever seen.
The BRAC Regional task force for the Sandhills NC area is now
known as the Fort Bragg Regional Alliance. The impact to our area as of early
2012 has been substantial, but we've yet to see the majority of effects. With
the Base realignment continuing through 2016 - 2017, we expect there to be quite
a few changes and improvements as we experience the growth in the coming years.
